This painting was born from a dream.
It forms a pair with Shari'a , my other work from 2022, which takes the element of fire as a catalyst for loneliness.
This work is liberally inspired by Arnold Böcklin's 'The Island of the Dead', reversing the point of view of the nothingness surrounding the island.
